As far as I am concerned, I always make it a point to shop earlier in the day when the markets just open. However, these days, the government has fixed the store timings so, it would be the best idea to be in the queue and enter as soon as the store opens because at that moment, it is likely to get less crowd.

2. Wear a Mask

There are two different types of masks meant for two categories – one is a surgical mask which is reserved for medical professionals and the other is a homemade cloth mask that should be worn by everyone else.

4. Maintain Six-Feet Distance From Others

While in-store, make sure to maintain six feet distance everyone else at the store including the store employees. So, as I said earlier, it will be wise to go for grocery shopping in the early hours when it is least crowded to avoid as much human interaction as possible.

5. Touch As Few Things As Possible

I understand that it is not possible to reduce the contact with things to zero but you can definitely try to avoid touching surfaces such as the product slabs, the counter slabs, fridge handles, etc. that others have touched. If you are planning to wear gloves then, make sure to discard them in a way that they do not come in contact with anyone. This is because the germs get stick to your gloves just like they do to your hands.

However, if there is no alternative than exchanging currency notes then, make sure to use sanitize your hands and disinfect the notes with a spray as soon as you reach home.

7. Wash Your Hands

The most important thing once you are back home from grocery shopping is to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available then, make sure to use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

8. How To Unpack Grocery

Though, it is not required to wipe down every single can and container you bring home but if it gives you peace then you can definitely go ahead and wipe them with disinfectant wipes. Make sure to wash fruits and vegetables with cold running water before storing them. After unpacking your groceries, don’t forget to wash your hands again and also disinfect the kitchen surfaces, handles and switches that you touch quite often.

9. What To Do With The Bags My Grocery Came In

It will be a wise decision if you use paper bags for grocery shopping and then discard them in a way that they do not come in contact with anyone. However, if you are using nylon or cotton bags then, make sure to wash them after you have unpacked your groceries. If the bags are not washable then, wipe them down with disinfecting wipes inside and out.

10. Wash The Clothes You Stepped Out In
